Coastal MS Residence
Engineered designs for timber frame residences are becoming more common place, especially in high wind zones. This frame utilizes down bracing, hidden steel connectors, and, of course, SIPs and interior shear walls to provide the proper bracing. The frame design was by Chris and Ruth Koehn.

The (almost) finished structure. The frame was made entirely of baldcypress, which was procurred from a local sawmill. The frame was cut on site.
The homeowner ripping one of the beam cut-offs into planks to make his front door. Timberlinx connectors were specified in certain critical connections to ensure high initial stiffness in the joints.
